This is typically how everything starts out. I get a short run, and then I end up higher up on the board than I anticipate, so I can’t really go home, but I don’t know how long I’m going to have to sit over here waiting for an assignment.
As I sat typing this, I received a phone call from work. It looks like I’m going to be picking up and taking a crew to Atlanta, Georgia. That should make for an interesting evening on a Friday. I really hope this is a crew that’s heading to the Atlanta terminal and not Eastpoint. There’s a very good reason for that.
The location for the drop point at Eastpoint is in a very bad neighborhood on the south side of Atlanta. This is an area where a very large motorcycle club tends to congregate on Fridays. Getting to their drop point means driving right through the middle of their party. It’s not fun. I’ve had to do this before. I don’t like it.
I took the run on the hopes and prayers that this is just going to be a run to Inman yard and back again. Since I’m going to be taking a group of railroaders to Atlanta, I guess for my main picture I’ll post a train. A good looking train at that.
