Well, no sooner do I write an article espousing all of the virtues of my favorite four-wheeled friend than apparently someone had to disagree. A deer reader (who shall remain unnamed to prevent their humiliation) read the article and decided to go overboard with their response. The deer reader apparently tracked us down and, in a show of fanaticism, decided to stick their rear-end out at Stinky as he was taking me home the other night.

Stinky attempted to slow down quickly as to allow our deer reader to cross the road unharmed, but the deer reader, at the last moment, froze in the road, leaving his posterior stuck out in the road. Though he had attempted to dodge, it was not enough, and Stinky’s front quarter and headlight met the deer reader’s rear and sent it flying out of the road at a decent rate of speed.

After the initial impact, I checked the rear-view mirror to see our deer reader stumbling around and attempting to flee the scene. I immediately took Stinky home to check him out and saw the damage to his eye as you can see above.

This picture was taken just a few weeks ago on Suck Creek Mountain by Suck Creek Photos. This is Stinky before the accident. Now, he no longer looks the same, and the loss of lights on one side of the vehicle has made things more difficult for the both of us. In that respect, there are quite a few that would imagine since the deer reader walked away that he would be the potential winner of their exchange.

However, that’s not how I see things. You see, even though Stinky is not the best-looking or cleanest truck on the roads, he is well loved, which means he was fully insured.

You guessed it: Full coverage insurance.

We immediately entered a claim that night and was speaking with Stinky’s adjuster by that morning. That process of getting Stinky’s eye repaired is already underway, and in a matter of time, he will look as good as new.

Our deer reader, on the other hand? He’ll walk with a limp for the rest of his life.
