So, if you have been following me up to this point, you’ll know I have been working on building a home server 🖥️ for web site hosting. I finally got it set up with Apache for the web server, MySQL for the database management, Linux for the operating system and PHP for web page dynamics and interaction. It’s called a L.A.M.P. server setup, and it’s almost everything I need.
What’s not included in those letters is an E for email. 📨 The more I have looked into it, the more I am convinced that I don’t want to run my own email server.
I’m thinking about letting GoDaddy handle “everything email” for me right now. Spam filters, MX records, virtual host configuration, MTA services, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
GoDaddy currently has been handling my hosting, domains and email. I think I’ll just take the hosting off their hands for now 😄.
