So, I’m sitting here at work waiting for my crew to show up. Looking around, I happened to notice the depot building’s foundation seam.
Now, normally, my eyes would skip right over something like that and move on. But, for whatever reason, my eyes hung on that spot.
First, let’s get the first thing out of the way: it’s ugly. There’s nothing refined or beautiful about it. It’s a far cry from pretty. One thing to note, though, is that it gets the job done. It’s really a lot like other people’s foundations; it’s ugly, it’s messy, but it gets the job done.
Now, I have seen some beautiful foundations in my time. Most of the time, though, I’m only noticing it because of the structure fire that gutted what sat upon it. You can have a beautiful foundation and still be homeless at the end of the day.
My foundation is ugly. I’m not talking about my home, I’m talking about me. It’s a little misshapen, made with various materials, but I’d like to think that it gets the job done. Sure, it might be a dumpster fire sitting on it, but it ain’t going anywhere, at least for the foreseeable future.
Well, my crew is here. Heading to Atlanta, wish me luck. Featured image is of my comparative foundation (dumpster fire sold separately).
UPDATE 1: Took two hours for the crew to show up, eat, then load up in the van to go
UPDATE 2: Crew decides they need to stop by Buc-ees on the way to Atlanta. Pretty certain it’s a conspiracy to make me deal with ATL rush hour traffic.
