Standifer Burt Kilgore, age 54, said Hello World as a 10 lb 12 oz baby boy in Waukegan, Illinois on June 16, 1971. On September 8, 2025, he officially and peacefully logged out, powered down, and put the server in sleep mode at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga while surrounded by his family.

After years of juggling community events, small businesses, puppets with exactly eight teeth, and technology schemes that baffled both mortals and machines, Burt has finally taken his eternal coffee break… actually, diet Mountain Dew break but anyway… Burt was the mastermind behind innumerable LOE and D&D campaigns. He also founded Bluefficient Hosting, where websites lived happily ever after on locally-powered servers (fueled by BTC Fiber and probably duct tape).

When not conjuring up entrepreneurial magic, Burt unleashed his wild imagination through “Little Domo and Friends,” a children’s project featuring Domos, plush blankets, ducks in wizard hats, and a washcloth named Bounce who — let’s be clear — had no face and never will. His attention to detail was legendary: every Domo had eight teeth, not seven, not nine, eight. Heaven help the AI that forgot.

Burt leaves behind a trail of creative projects, community car shows, websites, scripts, and enough half-finished outlines and written stories to keep future historians puzzled for decades. He also leaves behind his wife of almost 36 years, Roseanna Johnston Kilgore. His three children: Sarah Souza, Rebekkah Moore, and Robert Kilgore. His grandchildren John Moore and Susanna Moore. His mother, Louise Kilgore, sister Vicki Green and brother, Jonathan Kilgore, a whole slew of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, along with three Domo puppets who will forever wonder what new adventure he was about to cook up next.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations for funeral expenses to Ewton’s Funeral Home in Dunlap, TN. You may also contribute functioning GPUs, freshly sharpened pencils, or snack trays with saltines and corn chips on transparent backgrounds. Burt would have wanted it that way.

Rest easy, Burt — the Sequatchie Valley won’t be the same without you, but we’re pretty sure you’re already running the afterlife’s newest websites and RPG games.

Arrangements made by Ewton’s Funeral Home. 6936 TN-28, Dunlap, TN 37327. Visitation will be Monday, September 15, 2025 at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Central Time.

Oh, and The Game.

Ironically, Burt wrote his obituary about two weeks before he passed. We had a laugh about it and didn’t think about it again. When things happened the way they did, I looked up the obit that he had put together. I added the date and location of his death and the date and time for the visitation at the funeral home. Originally, he had “a whole slew of family and friends”. I added names. The rest is exactly how he had put it together.
